Sewing
In 2007 several women in the community approached me, and said they would really like to learn to sew, so they could clothe their families. The following year, the first group of twelve women undertook a two month course which taught them to sew on electric machines.
On completion of the course these women were given sewing machines. They are now able to clothe their families, and several of these women also sell items to supplement their incomes.
My wonderful Ntkozo, who was supporting the entire family of eleven, lost her job in November 2010. She has managed to turn this disaster into a triumph. She has set up her own small business, making uniforms for all the church goers in her community....of which there are many. She has captured the market!
Savouring her success, she now aslo buys sweets in bulk, them sells them on in small bags to the local children. I am so proud of her initiative. She really benefited from the sewing course.
